Our Work with Schools
A key part of I Can & I Am's work within schools is to deliver a systemic improvement in a school’s efficacy in improving the self-belief of their pupils. To do this, we offer three main forms of support:
1. Presentations to pupils from James Shone.
2. Workshops with pupils on our buses.
3. Presentations and workshops for staff.

Impactful talks and Bus workshops
There are a number of ways that we can support your school:
1. James’s engaging talks are the perfect way to reach larger groups of pupils, parents and teachers to encourage looking at the world through “I Can” lenses rather than focusing on what they can’t do. This build up of positivity and a Can Do attitude are then reinforced in class using our free Teaching Resources which are available to download.
2. Our bus visits offer helpful and practical tips for pupils and staff in a relaxed environment. Each pupil leaves have achieved something (making their own pizza) and having learned something (tools to improve their self-belief and a sense of belonging). These are available to many schools within the South West.
3. Teachers are central to shaping the lives of young people, and we strive to remind them of the incredible impact they have on them. Our workshops emphasise the importance of treating students as individuals rather than focusing solely on academic outcomes.
In addition, we also touch on the importance of staff well-being, encouraging educators to prioritise self-care so they can more effectively support and nurture their students. We find that our uplifting and practical advice often resonates with staff, offering encouragement and insight into navigating the challenges of the education system.
4. Resources to use in the classroom and at home can help embed further the messages of I Can & I Am. These are available to download from this website.
