Be a thermostat not a thermometer….

One of my favourite lines from an ex – boss and friend I heard again this morning and, I think, it’s a gem. It is : we want our pupils to make a mark on this world and not allow the world to make a mark on them.  To do this schools need to be “pastorally proactive” ensuring that pupils know that they are special “just the way they are.” This is at the heart of what I want to support schools with…..telling pupils they CAN and they are of value. We want pupils to affect the temperature positively in their communities and not be “passive responders” to the world around them.
To create thermostats is quite a job – I’m up for it. Are you?
