'New Year's Resolutions!'

I think I have written something about this before, perhaps it was last year at this time!
As I write this, the Christmas holidays are coming to an end and I notice how I have been working hard with myself and my children to cause them to reflect on the highlights and lowlights of last year and to set some new ‘intentions’ for the year head. I sometimes think that the word ‘goal’ speaks of a hit or a miss. All’s good when we hit a goal but heads drop when we miss. However, an intention is something that we should be inclined to stick to. Whilst we’re at the coldest, darkest and arguably the most miserable time of the year I always think that it offers up a huge opportunity to reset and reestablish our objectives for the next 12 months. As a golf enthusiast I always love that you can step on to a new hole if the last hole hasn’t gone very well!
It was over Christmas that I had a moving conversation with my sister in law who sighted that she had set herself the intention of being more ‘patient’ with her four children in 2018. She then remarked that her husband had declared in December that she was indeed noticeably more patient. This inspired me that we really can see change and progress if we take a simple word and stick to it throughout the year.
So let’s use these last few days before term starts to set our intentions for 2019 and help those around us to establish theirs.
A very Happy New Year to you all!
