I’m conscious that our children and us, as parents, are often in a very different place with regards to Christmas. Our children are often blissfully unaware of the costs that we as parents face, especially at Christmas, which is a particularly expensive time of year. It’s easy for them to be talking and sharing with their peers about what they would like to get for Christmas and they may often become incited to want even more. Meanwhile you may, like me, be more than aware of the ever increasing amount of things that need to be bought at Christmas nowadays and thinking it’d be nice to scale Christmas gifts right back! It strikes me that we should work hard to encourage our children to be as generous as they can with their attitude this Christmas. It doesn’t have to be just about the physical gifts. I’m reminded by what our vicar said in church a week or so ago – “if we ‘sow’ generously we are likely to ‘reap’ generously.” I think that this is a maxim that we should all be working towards this Christmas.
Wishing you all a very very Happy Christmas from myself and the I Can & I Am team.
James
