I’ve been peddling hard since Sunday and the end of my Great Tandem Challenge is now in sight with only 80 miles to go. I hope to finish this Friday lunch time and I’ll be accompanied by my wife, Olivia, for the final leg. It’s been an eventful few days – I’m exhausted, sore but upbeat about having nearly achieved my goal of cycling 230 miles. As many of my very kind tandem ‘pilot’ volunteers from the last few days will testify, tackling tandem riding is harder than you’d expect, even if you’ve got sight! I’ve been so lucky to have been accompanied by so many wonderful people both on the tandem and beside me to keep me going despite some challenging weather, tyre blow outs and general exhaustion. Thank you to all of you.
I am also very grateful for the very generous donations that have been coming in over the past few days and I’m delighted that we have raised almost enough to roll out the charity’s plan to visit a large number of state secondary schools over the coming months to help tackle the many issues associated with teenage mental health. If you would like to contribute, please do visit our Just Giving page. Even the smallest donations will help. Thank you!
