This is very much a biblical principal on how to conduct a fruitful relationship. I was reminded of it at church on Sunday and I’m aware that often we can lean too much to one side. In my case, I know I prefer taking the path of less resistance and extending grace as and when I can. I also know people who find it much easier to be constantly focusing on the details of what a young person might be doing or not doing. This can, if we’re not careful, become micromanaging and legalistic. In the same way, too much grace can be overly permissive. So I suppose my charge this week is to encourage us all to concentrate on these two words because as we lead and steer young people in to the future they really need a bit of both.
