…for they may act on their dreams with open eyes to make it possible.” T.E. Lawrence.
One of the things that I love about the new year is really dwelling on what our new year’s resolutions might be. The new year represents a new beginning… a fresh start. I think that realistic dreaming is a powerful thing, after all if we aim at nothing we are sure to hit nothing but I think to effectively dream we need to have courage and DARE as well as be DETERMINED. If we dare and are determined it is much more likely that we will deliver on our dreams. I think it’s a really good opportunity for us all as parents or teachers to challenge our charges on what their resolutions might be and then encourage them in the daring and determination required to see them delivered. It is effective dreaming that can ultimately change the direction of our lives – of course the first line of the great Martin Luther King speech endorses this.
So we must all work hard to allow ourselves to dream and not to allow the detritus of the last year to grip on to us and not let go in this new year. It’s a fresh start.
